Jan Fuller's
1970 Barracuda Convertible

|
Hello, my name is Jan Fuller and I own a 1970 Barracuda Convertible and this is the story behind my car. I grew up in Elkins, AR living in Coss Bay & Northbend Oregon in my teen years. I met and married my late husband in 1971. In 1973 we moved to Kwajalein Island, a missile range in the Marshall Islands halfway between Hawaii & Australia. We returned in 1975 and needed a car and bought our 1970 ‘Cuda from Karstetter in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The car was in great condition and it was white with gold stripping. At that time we had no idea what a Hemi was worth or what a 318 meant. In 1980 my husband passed away and I kept the car. I drove it and maintained it until the ‘90’s when my parents became ill. My father sold his vintage tractor so I could store my car in his work shed. My parents have since passed away and I have inherited the “home place” leaving my convertible in the shed. I finally retired from the Medical field in 2001 after 43 years. Now I had the time & money to have the car restored. I turned my car over to Oscar Matthews & Raymond Falkstein @ K&K motors (now Muscle Car Restoration) in Bentonville, Arkansas. My only request was to keep it as original as possible. We learned in the process that the car had been wrecked and repainted 2 times. I researched the car history and decided to go back to the “Plum Crazy Purple” the original color and white interior. They had my car for almost 2 years. My husband and I chose this car because we were in love with convertibles. We loved it for the weekends & trips… even had snow tires & rims for winter driving. My daughter loved it even more and proceeded to take it on a few cruises without authorization. The best thing about my car is that I love it and think of my sweet husband each time I drive it and I appreciate the fact that other people appreciate it. He would be so proud that I have kept the car and had it restored to original and that I have entered it into 12 car shows and have won 9 trophies. I love my car I just wish it had a Hemi... it would be worth more money but, money and trophies can never replace my sweet memories and love that have gone into this car. My love and best wishes to my Mopar Family. Jan Fuller. ot one. YEAH! |
