FEATURED RIDE

Ed and Peggy Stevenson's

1969 Barracuda Convertible

Your name & where you are from?

Ed and Peggie Stevenson - Bentonville, AR

What is the year, make & model of your car?

 1969 Plymouth Barracuda convertible

When did you get your car & from where?

April or May 2002 in Tightwad, MO

When you bought it was it complete?

 Heck No!

What was under the hood when you bought it?

 A nasty, dirty 318!

What have you changed about your car?

Hmmm. Everything (ha ha) Everything including but not limited to the color, the motor, the transmission, the ect…

Was this your first project car?

 Again, heck no.

Why a Mopar?

Mopar or no car! I have always been a Mopar Fan. My Dad always bought Mopars.  I think that is the first thing Ed liked about me was my 1977 Chrysler Cordoba .( I think he asked me out so he could drive my car).

Why did you choose that model?

Ed & I both love Barracuda’s and I am crazy for convertibles.

Why did you choose that color?

I wanted an original 1969 color and I liked the white best with the black stripes.

What car would be your dream car to have or to work on?

We are working on a 1970 AAR ‘Cuda, but my dream car would have to be a 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda Convertible. (who wouldn’t want one?)

What’s the best thing about your car?

That it’s drive-able at last. I love to ride with the top down the only problem with that is that it ruins your hairdo!

What would you change about your car?

Me nothing. Ed probably everything, he can’t leave well enough alone. (ha ha).

Is there a funny sentimental story about your car?

We bought the car in April or May 2002. Ed's parents called and said that they were looking at an ad about a 'Cuda convertible in Tightwad Mo, and it quoted a really low price, so off we went to see the car. It was sitting in an old storage bldg, the rear panels were bent in really bad, it looked like some one had tried to take it through a small space and the front went in find but the rear was too wide. I wanted the car really bad, so we bought it, put it on a trailer and took it home.

We took it to the body shop right away, where it sat and it sat and it sat. We finally got it back 2 and a half years later. It was sitting at Ed 's old shop in Lowell, and a customer came in with a trailer and hit the car, scraping the drivers side from front to back. This was before I even got to see the car. So back to the body shop it went, where it sat and sat and sat again, but during all this time, we had gone to lots of, or maybe every, Mopar show around and some thousands of miles away, buying things to fix the car.

I know there were a lot of Club members who thought we were kidding about owing the car, as it took so long to get it done. But, in 2006 it was finally on the road! Ed has had it back in the garage this winter, but I made him swear on his life it will be ready for the St. Patrick show at O’Reilly’s.
